If you're a bit of a handyman, setting up your own kitchen kit is almost a breeze. For neophytes, it is not impossible. You just have to follow certain rules in order to obtain an impeccable result. In this video, we show you how to build your integrated kitchen.

Before undertaking any kind of work, take care to store the furniture in another room. Bring the elements as you go.

To better visualize your integrated kitchen, unpack all furniture by removing them from their packaging and plastic. The furniture should be moved with their backs resting on the floor to avoid scratching the walls and facade. To facilitate assembly and avoid damage, remove the drawers and pay attention to the unintentional opening of the doors by handling them. Check that the electrical installations and the water evacuation coincide with the household appliances (the power of your electricity meter must support all the elements to be installed). All your appliances must be connected to electrical outlets or circuits that include earth. These outlets must be positioned at least 50 cm from the ground and each unit must have its own electrical outlet. Plan other easily accessible outlets for small appliances such as coffee makers or food processors ...

The tools you need to install your kitchen

  • 1 meter
  • 1 pencil
  • 1 big rule
  • 1 spirit level
  • 2 clamps
  • 1 drill
  • 2 concrete drills and 2 woods of 5 and 10mm
  • 1 jigsaw or circular saw with a thin serrated blade
  • 1 silicone gun
  • 1 hammer and a wooden wedge
  • flat and cruciform screwdrivers
  • 1 needle or twist
  • 1 step ladder

The installation of low furniture

For the built-in kitchen, always start with the corner cabinet or the cabinet if it is placed at the end. Draw on the wall, the location of the base elements according to the plan of your kitchen. Check the horizontality with the spirit level.

Prepare the low furniture. Position the foot end through the hole provided and mark the location of the screws with the needle, then screw. Position the feet, unscrew their ends about 1 cm. They can be screwed up at the time of installation to make up for any irregularity of the ground. To put the furniture low on their feet, take them to two not to break their feet in ABS.

Filling of fillers

On some furniture models, the corner trim is required. After doing so, check that the drawers and doors open. Position the corner unit definitively by placing the second base element perpendicular to the first. Check again that drawers and doors open. For proper alignment, the corner cabinet must not touch the wall.

To level each piece of furniture in relation to the line drawn on the wall, screw or unscrew the jacks of the feet to adjust the height starting with the highest foot. Use the spirit level to make the furniture horizontal. Secure the furniture two by two using clamps and assemble the elements with the connecting screws provided. Proceed in the same way with all the elements down. Position the worktops on the furniture. Check the vertical position of the column.

The installation of high elements

Using the large ruler and spirit level, draw the top line of the furniture, then a second line 6.5 cm down which will be the axis of the brackets. Then, according to your kitchen plan, draw the width of the tall furniture. Position the legs on the shaft, two centimeters from the edge of the cabinet, mark the holes on the wall with a pencil and drill with a drill and a drill bit. Thread the dowels and screw the brackets. To install the brackets, plan for wall plugs and screws adapted to your wall and the weight of the furniture (the manufacturers are not responsible for any defective hanging). To hang furniture more easily, it is advisable to unscrew the lower screw of the adjustment box located at the top corners of the cabinet in order to bring out the outer hook so that it will be easier to fit into the bracket of the wall. . Position the first element starting, as for the bottom, by the corner cabinet. Do the same for others.

The setting of the high elements

The hanging system of the high elements is done through the housing inside the cabinet that allows adjustment in height and depth. The height adjustment will be made, if necessary, by screwing or unscrewing the top screw of the housing with a Phillips screwdriver. In order to press the cabinet to the wall, you have to tighten more or less the bottom screw of the hanging box. Proceed identically with all tall furniture. As for the low elements, connect the furniture together with the connecting screws provided.

The adjustment of the doors and the installation of the handles

The door hinges are adjusted horizontally and vertically by loosening the screws, sliding the hinges and then tightening the screws. Adjust them until they close perfectly.

Put in place the handles provided, being careful to use the screws whose length corresponds to the thickness of the facades. If the holes in your door handles have not been drilled, drill them in the proper places according to the handles you have chosen. Use a fall of wood to avoid splinters during drilling.

Laying and cutting the work plan

Cut out the template from the hob provided with the worktop. Position the template on the work surface and mark its center with a line on the edge. To avoid scratching your work plan, it is advisable to return it. Position the template in the length with the mark you have previously made, then position the template in the direction of the depth by measuring each side. Here it is centered as in most cases. Mark the angles, being careful not to move the template. Draw the cut line and check its alignment.

To begin cutting, you must first make a hole with a 10 mm wood drill to introduce the blade of the jigsaw. To avoid chips during cutting, it is advisable to apply a wide adhesive tape around the cutting edge.

Put the fixing brackets of the worktop flush with the low box. Protect the sawed parts against moisture with water repellent paint, also paint the parts in direct contact with the dishes. Your worktop will be protected from the vapors of the dishwasher. At the joint of the two work surfaces, make a silicone seal and put in place the connecting rod provided for this purpose. Also make a silicone seal around the sink to avoid seepage and do the same with the hotplates without forgetting the seal.

It is also essential to make a silicone seal between the worktop and the wall.

The laying of baseboards

The plinth makes sense. The lower part, the one towards the ground, has a seal. To trace the markers that will be used to fix the clips, place the plinth on the ground attached to the feet, the face that will appear at the end of the assembly to the ground. Mark the markings on the base so that the clips are placed 7 cm from the seal. Screw the clips onto the plinth. Clip the baseboards on the feet. Start with the baseboards and the returns.
